Surah Al Kausar Facts & Benefits

Muslims Recite Quran as a religious obligation and the blessings of recitation of The Holy Book becomes great in numbers especially in the month of Ramadan. There are ten rewards for each alphabet you recite in normal days but its merits becomes greater in Ramzan.

Surah Al kausar is a famous Surah of Qur`an . It has total three verses and is very easy to remember. Muslim recites it in Salah (prayers) and Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him has also mentioned it in several hadiths. Let us consider the Transliteration & Translation of This makki Surah

Translation of Surah Al Kausar


Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar.So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone]. Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.

Transliteration of Surah Al Kausar


1- Inna aAAtayna kaal kawthar. 2-Fasalli lirabbika wanhar. 3-Inna shani-aka huwa al-abtar”

Hadiths About Surah Al Kausar


“The Holy Prophet was among us. In the meantime He dozed; then He raised His head, smiling, according to some traditions, the people asked what for He was smiling, according to others, He Himself told them that a Surah had just been revealed to Him. Then, with Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim, he recited Surah Al-Kauthar; then he asked the people whether they knew what Kauthar was. When they said that Allah and his Messenger had the best knowledge, He said; It is a river which my Lord has granted me in Paradise.” (Saheeh Muslim)


Prophet (PBUH) said in a Hadith:


“This is a Fountain at which my Ummah will gather on the Resurrection Day.” (Muslim)

On Another Place Prophet (PBUH) added to the earlier Hadith:

“I shall have arrived at the Fountain before you.” (Saheeh Bukhari)

Regarding water of the fountain, The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has also mentioned the source of this Surah in the following way:

“Two channels from Paradise will flow into it and supply water to it.” (Muslim)

Benefits of Recitation of Surah Al Mulk - The Sovereignty

A Short Background:

Surah Al-Mulk is the 67th chapter of The Holy Quran. It has 30 verses. It was revealed to Prophet Muhammad PBUH in Mecca and it is a Meccan Surah.
Like any other Surah in the Quran, Surah Al-Mulk is very important. There are many advantages of reciting this Surah.

Virtues of Recitation of Surah Al Mulk:

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that:
I heard the Messenger of Allah () saying, "There is a Surah in the Qur'an which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is 'Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.

Hazrat yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Humayd ibn Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf had told him that Surat al-Ikhlas (Surah 112) was equal to a third of the Qur'an, and that Surah al-Mulk (Surah 67) pleaded for its owner. Reference

Narrated Hazrat Ibn Abbas:

"One of the Companions of the Prophet () put up a tent upon a grave without knowing that it was a grave. When he realized that is was a person's grave, he recited Surat Al-Mulk until its completion. Then he went to the Prophet () and said: 'O Messenger of Allah () [Indeed] I erected my tent without realizing that it was upon a grave. So when I realized there was a person in it I recited Surat Al-Mulk until its completion.' So the Prophet () said: "It (Surah Al-Mulk) is a prevention, it is a salvation delivering from the punishment of the grave. Reference


From the above Hadith, Surah Al-Mulk is also a preventive, and assists in delivering from the punishment of the grave.

Point to ponder:

From the above Hadith , Surah Al-Mulk will negotiate for its reciters (those who recites this chapters often) on the Day of Judgement until its reciter is forgiven by Allah (SWT) therefore this is the time to revert to Quran.
As there are lots of publication online and offline (in the forms of book) which you can access but the actual things and rewards comes from doing somethings practice.
